No more taking impressions thanks to 3D scanning
The 3D scan of your teeth is the first step for treatment with the invisible braces.
At the appointment, we first look at your capabilities. And, of course, what package you fall into.
After this you decide if the 3D scan will be made. With the 3D plan, this costs €299 and comes off the price as soon as you start.
The 3D scan is used by orthodontists in the US and Dublin to create a simulation. You will receive a link to view your simulation one week after the scan.

Attachments for grip
Attachments are small balls of composite on some teeth. They fit precisely into the aligners, creating a little more grip and pressure. At the start they are placed by our dentist and at the end they come off.

IPR creates space
IPR means "interproximal reduction." It is a way to create extra space, allowing your teeth to move freely and fit next to each other. A thin layer of your tooth enamel comes off (max 0.5mm). This space is then filled by your teeth.

Do you feel IPR?
Actually, you hardly notice the IPR moments at all. No anesthesia is needed, it is painless and you hardly notice it either. However, it is usually really necessary to straighten the teeth. You can find more objective information here.

Follows your gums
Orthoclear aligners follow the contour line of your gums. They stop just below the gumline. This is much more comfortable and also less likely to cause problems with your gums. Aligners with a straight line finish are not comfortable. It is cheaper to produce.

Question & Answer
Treatments with clear aligners usually have primarily an aesthetic purpose. The way the molars fit together is not corrected.
The method of moving teeth with plastic braces and 3D software is basically the same everywhere. However, there are differences in the software, the use of attachments and, for example, the finish of the aligners.
After the 3D scan of your teeth, you usually receive the 3D simulation (the plan) for treatment within about 1 to 1.5 weeks.
We keep virtually all facets of treatment in-house. So from the scan to making the aligners. During the treatment itself you do visit our dentists for checkups and possibly the IPR. We have selected them very carefully and most of them have been working with us for years.
